Been listening to a lot more UK indie stuff lately than I usually do, and must say I am very impressed with El Goodo (Welsh band on the Furries' custom label) and Kill Kill Disconnect, a fairly obscure band w/ an EP out on GravityDIP. The Wales scene seems to still be kind of happening, if El Goodo and Shooting at Unarmed Men are any example. (Like the Caves, too.) IP: Logged |

I did like that occasion in the mid-90s when there was an explosion of weird and wondrous bands from the Celtic fringes (Super Furries, Urusei Yatsura, Belle & Sebastian, Helen Love, Telstar Ponies) in direct response to the Engerland dullness of Britpop. Culminating of course in the blissful "Welsh Bands Suck" by Teen Anthems. IP: Logged |

At the moment, the Golden Virgins from Sunderland are a band I'm enjoying. Far more interesting than their Futurehead mates. Great songwriting, and excellent tunes. Dogs from London also look promising. Jam and Clash influenced band. Good album they just released. The Yards are another good band, and I also liked Flipron's Rustique Novelties record too, though not sure what those guys are up to now. IP: Logged |

I'm also big into Alfa 9 at the moment. IP: Logged |
